Rejoignez Lightning McQueen à Radiator Springs alors qu'il prépare son académie d'étudiants coureurs pour la compétition Race-O-Rama. Lightning découvre que Chick Hicks a son propre groupe d'étudiants coureurs de l'académie qui ne rivalisent pas toujours équitablement.

Ces étudiants coureurs se préparent à courir dans les mêmes compétitions afin de propulser l'académie de Chick Hick à la première place. Les courses se déroulent sur différentes pistes depuis les plages, dans les villes et vers le désert de Baja. En cours de route, les coureurs améliorent leurs capacités et personnalisent leur apparence.

La finale consiste en une ultime course Lightning McQueen entièrement modifiée contre un Chick Hicks entièrement modifié pour le trophée Race-O-Rama. Que la course commence !
