Contrôler Mario n'a jamais été aussi simple grâce à la télécommande Wii et au Nunchuk. Les joueurs déplacent Mario à l'aide du Stick analogique et agitent la télécommande Wii pour effectuer une attaque tournoyante ou pour utiliser des étoiles et ainsi accéder à des plates-formes galactiques.

Les joueurs peuvent même pointer leur télécommande Wii sur de la poussière d'étoile pour en récupérer ou pour surfer sur des étoiles et relâcher un tonnerre magnétique à travers tout l'univers.

Vous n'aimez pas explorer l'espace tout seul ? Grâce à une seconde télécommande Wii, un joueur supplémentaire peut jouer avec vous en pointant et en récupérant de la poussière d'étoile et en la lançant sur vos ennemis.

Le deuxième joueur peut même détourner les projectiles ou ralentir vos ennemis pour faciliter l'aventure de Mario.
